100% PASS RATE FOR MANCHESTER CADETS
All 30 cadets, who attended the Manchester District
Multi-subject specialisation weekend at TS Quantock
(Tameside Unit) from 23rd to 25th October 2009,
achieved at least a pass in their chosen subject.
The cadets, who came from Manchester (Trafalgar),
Salford, Stockport, Stretford and Tameside units
and ranged in age from Junior Cadets to Able Cadets,
were given the opportunity to attain a class three
specialisation in either; Communications, Cook/Steward,
First-Aid, Seamanship (Chartwork) or Seamanship
(Ropework & Rigging). As the pass rate shows,
the cadets all worked extremely hard and their determination
to succeed paid off.
Lt/Cdr Graham Broadbent (Commanding Officer of
TS Quantock) said "it was a fantastic weekend,
not only have the cadets gone away with a qualification
under their belts, they have made new friends from
other units and met new staff – it all adds
to their Sea Cadet experience". The District
Training Officer (Lt/Cdr Mike Herbert), thanked
Lt/Cdr Broadbent for hosting the weekend and added
that "the facilities at Tameside Unit are excellent,
so we as a District should make as much use of them
as we can". Lt/Cdr Jim Garner, Manchester District
Officer, commended the cadets for their achievements
and their good behaviour over the whole weekend.
Bravo Zulu to all the cadets who attended and passed,
thanks to Lt/Com Broadbent and the TS Quantock team
for making everyone so welcome and to the Instructional
Staff for all their hard work.
