Get the picture that tells the Sea Cadet story and you could scoop a top prize in the annual Sea Cadet Corps’ Photographic Challenge!

You don’t need to be a David Bailey or a budding paparazzo to make the grade, just an eye for a photo that puts the Corps in the frame. In a warship, aboard TS Royalist or TS John Jerwood, during an overseas exchange, at a training school or competition, or just down at the Unit – whenever you see a great shot. And if you come up with the goods you will be crowned Sea Cadet Photographer of the Year.




In association with our friends at The Naval Photograph Club, this year we are awarding two prizes open to Cadets of all age
s:

* The Tod Trophy, named after Vice Admiral Sir Jonathan Tod KCB CBE, the last Chairman of the Sea Cadet Association, for the best photograph of any Sea Cadet activity
* The Anthony Preston Memorial Trophy, named after the renowned naval author and historian, for the best photograph of a ship

We are also introducing a new trophy for adults:

* The President’s Trophy, awarded for the best photograph of any Sea Cadet Corps related activity taken by an adult volunteer.

The competition will be co-ordinated by the President of The Naval Photograph Club, Dr Duncan Veasey. Entries should be clearly marked SEA CADET CORPS PHOTOGRAPHIC CHALLENGE and sent to:

Each photograph must be clearly marked with the name, age (if a Cadet), rank and Unit of the photographer, must be hard copy. Entries are limited to a maximum of three photographs from any individual.Closing date for entries is Wednesday 5th September 2007.

Following the closing date Dr Veasey will arrange a panel of the club’s photographic experts to judge the competition. The judges’ decision will be final and binding. The competition is not open to relatives of either the judges or officers of The Naval Photograph Club.The trophies will be presented at the reception following the Trafalgar Day Parade in London on Sunday 21 October 2007. The winners will be invited to attend as guests.

Entries may be published to promote and publicise The Marine Society & Sea Cadets. Individuals entering this competition will not be identified beyond name, rank (as appropriate) and Unit
